Hello all,

I have build my own pc, but I am stuck with the speakers that are in my screen. I thought about buying the z906 from Logitech. Now, I was thinking can't I build one from scratch with an car subwoofer and amp? Is there anyway I could make that for my pc?

If so, can anyone tell me how?

Cheers, Andy

yes, that is the recommended retail price on the onkyo site, you can find them in stores for nearly half that. Just...

using a car sub and amp can be done, but is messy, requires 12v power supply to power the car amp, and car amps need a pre-amp. Messy and costly for a poor result IMO. You can get a lot of 5.1 all in one box home theatre systems from Onkyo, Yamaha and Pioneer for a similar price to the logitech setup and are better quality. There is nothing wrong with using a home theatre system rather than a "multimedia" system for your PC.
http://www.onkyousa.com/Products/prod_class.php?class=Systems some examples.

I picked up this http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Home-Theater-Systems/Component+Home+Theater+Systems/HTP-072 for AU$200 in Australia on sale. It was half the price of the logitech z906 at the time.
