I have a 10 year old Asus laptop. Recently, i started noticing a burning smell every time i power on the laptop.
The smell comes out the fan ventilation port on the side. The smell disappears after a few seconds. The fan itself is working fine; i monitor CPU temps and they are normal. Everything else seems to be normal.
I think the smell could be of burning plastic, but i can't be sure. Opening the covers under the laptop, i don't see any burn marks. Removing the fan and sniffing around its space, i notice the burnt smell is strong around there.
Any ideas what could be happening?
