hello, first, i have a custom built high end pc, so please avoid telling me i should better invest in a desktop pc.

now, i need help choosing a "gaming" laptop
budget:1500-1800 maximum preferably
resolution: 1080p min
gpu: pref 900 series/ or 970m and up
ram: 8-16gig

i enjoy 14 inch laptops, and i would enjoy if it is light. my only option right now is the razer 14.

i should have mentioned that im looking in canada. seeing that with such price ill be over my budget by alot lol
and thanks for the suggestion but i was really looking for something on the smaller side. i might go for the msi since i can pair it with the dock later on.

nothing decent actually, i feel like the razer blade 14 is literally the only best option for laptop gaming.
specially because its 14 inches, light, has a 970m and an i7 with 256 gig m.2. i know its a little expensive (sits at around 2100)
best option though, right ?

I usually go for 17" if I get a gaming laptop.. why do you only consider 14'' ?

Please check my most recent post, I have a very similar question and I'm in Canada too.

Why 14" thats a very small screen, your are right there is nothing better in your price range if you want 14", but you can go with bigger screen i think that would be better.

I would get this one
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152817

it has:
- A little better CPU
- same GPU
- 16gb of ram, razer blade only has 8gb
- 128gb M.2SATA SSD and 1tb HDD / yes its smaller SSD but you will still able to put Windows on it, and razer blade doesnt have HDD so 250gb this is very little space that OS+3-4 games and your SSD is full, on this Laptop you have another 1tb of storage
- you also get optical drive which BLADE doesnt have (most people dont use optical drive anymore but its a nice touch)
-its a bit heavier 5.95 lbs/2.7kg, Blade 4.19lbs / 1.9kg both are very light but that MSI laptop is heavier is expected it has things that blade doesnt 1tb hdd, optical drive and 17.3" screen size
- and the last thing its cheaper

i definitely agree with you on every point, but i travel and work around the university alot. i would like to have the ability to play a game every now and then while doing my work and not having to haul dumbbells around with me.
i already carry one 17inch thing, i dont need another.

though you are right, razer is over priced alot and doesnt over close to what the other companies do. im considering the new msi laptops they announced at computex that have the slim dock which houses a full gpu.

Hello,
I recently purchased a custom built Sager gaming laptop for $1,615 including tax. Specs are:
*15.6" full HD LED-Backlit display w/ Matte Finished surface (1920 x 1080)
*Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M GPU w/ 6GB GDDR5
*4TH Gen. i7-4710MQ (6MB L3 Cache, 2.50GHz)
*IC Diamond Thermal Compound- CPU + GPU
* 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
*120GB Samsung 850 EVO Series mSATA3 SSD (OS Drive)
*1TB 7200rpm SATA2 Hard Drive
*8x DVD- R/RW/4x+DL Super-Multi Drive
*Removable smart Li-ION Battery pack
*Fingerprint security reader
*30 day Guaranteed no dead or partially-lit pixels after purchase

This is well within your price range and I have heard good thing about this company. If you are still undecided I would look in to this brand. But again I'm fairly new to the pc gaming world so I hope I made a good choice myself. Good luck to you and game on!!!
