Buying a new laptop for school

I'm looking to replace my current laptop with one that has better battery life, mine only lasts about 4 hours. I have a desktop for gaming and storage so I'm not looking for that with a laptop. My main things are long battery life and easy to take with me.

1. What is your budget?
Under $500

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
13-15 inch

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Don't really care

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable

5. How much battery life do you need?
Over 6 hours, would like around 8-9

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
No gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
MS Office, web browsing, streaming video (YouTube, Hulu)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
At least 128 GB

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3-4 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Not needed

Current laptop is Acer, but I've been happy with Dell & HP as well.

I personally got a lenovo 100s that I use sort of as a mobile extension for my desktop. Its very light, extremely cheap and very good quality. I've been taking it to school with me for a few weeks and I have been loving it so far.
