Can i connect spdif with line in/out?

I have an audio device which has line in and line out inputs.
Can i connect it to the spdif ports of my sound card?
Do you know if i need an adaptor or something?
Any answer is appreciated.

My audio device also has a usb type b. I think i will use a cable/adaptor from usb to spdif to connect it.
