If your home cinema has surround sound modes for the stereo input you will get analog surround sound if you use an optical to analog converter. Not as good as digital but it's better than nothing.
YOur "home cinema" must have digital input (optical or coax, sometime labeled SPDIF) in order to produce surround sound. "AUX" usually means RCA (red and white jacks), which would be stereo only.
