depends on the manufacturer. some alienware and other higher end lappys can be upgraded but as a general rule most cant.
there are however other things you can do. such as external gfx card hubs.
but again it will depend on what make and model you have and whether it has an external pci-e slot.

oh and there not cheap...

no you cant . you have in chip graphics notebook . no slots for GPU.
