Can I upgrade my toshiba c66 to a gaming laptop, and if so how would that work?

Laptops are not desktops. Dump the old entry level laptop from 2009 / 2010 and buy a new laptop that is capable of playing the games you want.

Laptops basically limits you to only RAM and hard drive upgrades. There are a handful of gaming laptops for $1,400+ that can allow you to upgrade the graphics chip, but those are very specific laptop models. There are $2,500+ laptops that do not allow you to upgrade the graphics chip.
