Can I upgrade processors which have the same sockets?

My laptop's current processor(Intel Core i5 430m), supported sockets are BGA1288,PGA988.Can I upgrade it to (Intel Core i7 640m) which have the same supported sockets.Same supported sockets means I can upgrade it? pls help.

I Believe PGA1288 is soldered onto the mobo, so basically, no you can't.
Even in cases where mobile Cpu's are not soldered, many times the are limited by the laptop mfg (thru hardware or bios) as
to what, if any upgrades can be done.

I'm afraid you only can replace it by buying another laptop
