Hi all; I am new to the forums. I just purchased a Lenovo Y700 model number 80NV0026US, and would like to know if I can simply replace the stock 2.5" 1TB 5400 RPM HDD with this SDD:

I checked the hardware manual but did not see any 2.5" 1TB drives. I have no intention of using the M.2 slot; I simply want to use a 1TB drive for my OS and files. Any insight/confirmation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

The answer is yes you can replace it with a 2.5" 1TB SSD but I also checked the specification of your laptop and it says that your laptop already came in with a SSD, it's either a 128 GB or 512 GB SSD.

Here's the specification of your laptop:

Here's a manual of your laptop. (Look for Solid state disk and hard disk drive)

Thank you. This model does not come with an SSD--just the 1TB 5400 2.5" drive. I am hoping I can simply clone the drive with the Samsung SW (I know I will not get the recovery partition.)
