Can I use a 3.5mm to RCA adapter to use my TV's speakers for my computer audio?

Can I use this (http/www.amazon.com/Belkin-Audio-Cable-Splitter-1-Mini/dp/B00004Z5CP/ref=sr_1_2?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1437065659&sr=8-2&keywords=3.5mm+to+rca&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011) to transfer audio playing on my computer to my TV (my TV is using sony surround as its speaker system). To clarify, I want the speakers on my TV to play audio on my computer. Thanks in advance for your help!

What GPU are you using? most modern GPU's can pass audio through HDMI. Also it may depend on how you hook up your PC to your TV. If you use VGA, most TV's will have a separate audio jack for that source. Otherwise with HDMI there is no alternative sound input for the source. You would need to check you TV's sound settings to see if you can set the sound input, independently from the video source. Otherwise you could use that cable to go right into your home theater receiver and set the reciver to "AUX" This however will require the receiver to be on for any sound to play from the PC.
