Can I use a european sim card with cspire?

I have an iphone XR with a plan through cspire wireless. I am traveling to Europe soon and would like to purchase a sim once I arrive to use in my phone. Is this possible? I believe cspire wireless uses cdma and Europe uses gsm, however, I've read that some phones are compatible with both.

Nope. You are entering the cdma zone. It won't work.

The iphone XR supports GSM and CDMA(among others) so aslong as the phone is unlocked(not locked to a carrier) it should be ok.
