can I use a laptop as desktop monitor

I have a old laptop hp compaq cq42 and I want to ude it as a desktop monitor

no you can't do that sorry. There is no way to connect it to your PC.

If you can manage to find the model of your lcd panel, or maybe if it shares a standard connection type, you could find a controller board for it for around $35 on ebay. On the other hand, you could probably find a full fledge monitor for the same cost at an office equipment liquidator.
