Can I use an external battery charger

My charging port does not work anymore. I found out it's in the motherboard. It will cost me more money to fix the problem than what I paid for it. Can I buy a third-party (Used) external battery and an extra battery so that I can use my laptop? If so, where can I purchase these items?

How should we know what is possible if we have no knowledge on what model we are talking about?
It might also just be a dead battery, that doesn't work anymore.

What are you actually experiencing?

I had someone look it over. The connector is fine, not defected nor loose. The battery and charging plug was checked and will charge in an identical laptop that belongs to my sister. In order for me to use my laptop, we will exchange batteries when it has charge up with her laptop.

so the best option would be to get a spare battery with the same specs of the original one and use your syster laptop to charge it so you will have 3 and one could always be use as spare while the other is on charge .

I can only charge the battery with my sister's laptop. But she will be moving soon and I don't have funds to purchase a new computer. That's why I was trying to find out about external battery charger. Help........
