I got a laptop for Christmas and I want to know if it would be capable of playing games. This is not a gaming laptop or anything and that isn't its main purpose but thought it would be cool to play some less demanding games if possible on medium to low settings. I have the lowest priced one right now but was wondering if I exchanged it for the next one up if that would work.

Quoting from NotebookCheck: "The integrated HD Graphics (Broadwell) offers 12 Execution Units (EUs) clocked at 100 - 850 MHz. Similar to the CPU core, the GPU architecture (Intel Gen 8) has been thoroughly revised for improved performance-per-clock. We expect the HD Graphics (Broadwell) to beat the HD Graphics (Haswell) (10 EUs) as well as the HD Graphics 4200 (20 EUs), both part of the Haswell generation. Nevertheless, most games as of 2015 should be playable only in very low settings."

Your graphics card (the laptop with the Pentium) has the graphics card similar to HD 4200.

The laptop with the i3 is much more powerful though - the i3 in there is maybe...

The laptop with the i3 is much more powerful though - the i3 in there is maybe 30% more powerful than the Pentium.
i3-6100U also has the HD 520 which is much more powerful than the HD 4200 in the Pentium laptop as HD 520 is actually comparable to the performance of NVIDIA 820M.

If you can exchange it, do so.
