As with USB 3.1 Type-C specification, it can supplying up to 100W power at 20V. So it can replacing awkward (and bulky) charger.

It was confirmed to supporting Atom and Core M based laptop and tablet. MacBook (reborn) which it using Core M has USB Type-C (world first!) and headphone jack only. Charging this must using USB Type-C charger (might be specialized charger, I don't really know yet). Smartphone definitely support this!

How about Bay Trail and Core i based laptop? Common laptop like this has 19V charging, will it support this? I hope future Ultrabook has this so thickness can be trimmed so nearly-true Ultrabook will born

If not, I hope USB team creating the breakthrough standard so future will come faster

Solution
No. USB-C is merely a connection.

The bulk of the power supply is due to capacitors, transformers and other circuitry that is necessary convert alternating current into direct current.
