Can you connect a non Samsung Bluetooth soundbar to a Samsung tv

I recently bought a Bluetooth soundbar,but can't connect it to my Samsung tv. The soundbar is not samsung and I was told that I need a Samsung soundbar in order for it to work

It should work. Bluetooth is an open standard, and Samsung does not control it.
