Cannon memory card error

Hello,
I have a Cannon PowerShot SD450 digital camera. My older SD Memory cards work OK. It is just the new cards that get the "Memory card error" I have tried 3 different new cards and they all get the same error.

If the new cards are SDHC, bear in mind that this camera (if I've identified it correctly) is 5 or 6 years old and the specs make no mention of HC
