My sister has just recently brought a new Sony Smart TV 55' (the surge socket can hold up to 8 plugs). We use to plug in to the surge socket PS3, Sky and the TV power plugs. This caused our TV to turn off automatically and every time we tried turning it on, it would turn off. Now, this is quite interesting. The tech advised you can only have TWO plugs plugged into the surge socket. Which fixed the problem, however we now run an extension power cord to connect our PS3. Now, I know this is not normal in today's generation of electronics. But my sister says it is. I don't believe the Tech or my sister. Has anyone experienced this before?

Power strip may contain reactive components that conflict with active PFC in the TV. Better is a straight power strip without those protectors parts and with the all so important circuit breaker.
