Oh right! So they'd all work with the d5100? I thought you'd have to buy a DSLR-specific tripod.
Think I'm going to get this, will it be compatible? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Traveller-Camera-Camcorder-Tripod/dp/B0017PEBZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418412587&sr=8-1&keywords=tripod

I have a chance of buying a Nikon D5300 on ebay.co.uk from a seller located in Hong Kong for £369 with an 18-55m lens. The seller has loads of positive seller feedback so I don't think it's a scam.
What do you think?

To answer the first question: It should work but not sure how sturdy it will be. You may want to add some weight to the legs to help stabilize it. That would be fine a point-and-shoot camera. Personally, I would go with a sturdier tripod.

This one might be a better choice: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Velbon-DF-61-Heavy-Aluminium-Tripod/dp/B00B1Q5R2S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418417290&sr=8-1&keywords=Magnus+VT-300+Video+Tripod+with+Fluid+Head

As for the second question: I've never purchased a camera off of e-bay and I don't know the seller so I'm not the best person to advise you on this. If you are comfortable with this seller then go for it.

Do you know how long it usually takes a package to get from Hong Kong to europe?

I have no idea. I would ask the seller what shipping method he uses and try to determine it based on that information.

I'm not sure,he seems pretty legit.. He's been on Ebay since 2006 with a few thousand positive feedbacks and 2 neutral. I think I'll pass on getting it from Hong Kong tho because I've heard it takes a few weeks to arrive and I need the cam for christmas. D:

I'm thinking I should order the d5300 from that seller :| I think I asked this before but are most items coming from Hong Kong counterfeit?

+ Do you know how customs would work? do the customs offcie hold the package until I pay the tax?

I wish I could answer those questions but I have never ordered from Hong Kong or had to pick up anything from customs. Check with your local customs office.

Hey guys! I bought a D5300 off Amazon (haven't turned it on yet) but I'm really happy with my purchase so far! I was wondering if you could link me a few bits of equipment for it on Amazon? SD card, tripod and strap? the cheaper the better :) I'm not sure how big the SD card should be so just link me one you'd recommend.. thanks! :)

Glad to hear you got what you wanted.
Tripods (link I provided earlier): http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_nr_p_72_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Atripod%2Cp_72%3A419153031&keywords=tripod&ie=UTF8&qid=1418410171&rnid=419152031 - The sturdier the better (don't go with the lightest or cheapest tripod you can find as you will regret it).

For anything else just search for Nikon D5300 accessories and then ask a question if it something you are not sure about.
