Can't Decide between these laptops

It's for my wife who will be starting college soon. She needs something that will run MS Office and possibly play minecraft and other games decently.

I honestly prefer amd processors but I'm looking for a 100% unbiased opinion on which of the two laptops will be a better investment.

I'd go the AMD laptop for the additional DRAM unless you could upgrade the DRAM on the i5. The i5 only has 6GB and you will be losing a chunk of that to the iGPU. The AMD has 8GB so you'll have a couple extra after the iGPU grabs what it wants
