Can't find the laptop that I want.. please help!

$1000-1500
256GB SSD
500GB-1TB Hard Drive
15.6 inches
Nvidia GTX 960 or better
Less than 6 pounds

Preferences: Light weight, slim

Also, is there a way to get a custom built laptop?

The laptop you suggested seems great, but it turns out it has a 48hz refresh rate, which is really low for gaming.

If I manually add an SSD, would it have any effect on warranty? Also, is it difficult to add an SSD? I have experience building my own desktop, but I have no idea how laptops work.

Your biggest issue is you are limiting things in a "gaming" system to a thin and light system which means extra cost and a lot less range to pick from.

See what www.xoticpc.com has, although most will fall outside of your size/weight wants.

well, that refresh rates a bummer... might be best to stick with 1080p screens.

i recommend contacting the laptop manufacturer before changing internal parts. some are pickier than others about it, but MSI has historically been fairly lenient with people swapping out storage hardware.

for how difficult it will be, that's a variable that goes wildly from a few minutes to disassembling the entire laptop. i have a MSI GS60 from last year that requires me to disassemble the entire thing to replace the SSD in it... it would be best to find an instructional video about disassembling the laptop before attempting that ways you know what your getting your self into.
