Cant turn on the wifi

I have a HCL Me Icon L 1044 laptop with windows 8. I cant switch on its wifi. i tried troublrshooting the problem. The result said that the hardware switch is turned of. But i dont have any physical switch in the front, side or back of my laptop. I tried switching on the wifi by using the function key+F2 but still it wont work. I updated my wireless adapter driver also and the device info says it is working properly. Please help me out

If the Function 2 key has a wireless icon printed in white, and your Fn key is marked in blue, don't press Fn while hitting F2.

I can't remember if Windows 8 has a switch in Control Panel>Network & Sharing Centre but it's worth a look.
