I have lost my on screen status for caps lock, number lock and volume buttons, it is a gateway NE56R52 laptop, thanks for any help.

Solution
Can you go into the start menu and in the search box type msconfig and press enter. that should bring up system configuration menu. click on the startup tab, and look at all the items that are not checked. please upload screen shots of everything that is NOT checked, or type the startup item name here. I need to know everything that is not checked in order to rule out the software that controls those keys as being off. you can also click, ENABLE ALL, then click OK and restart your computer. This will re-enable any start up items that you previous accidentally disabled. your functionality might come back.

same thing with the services tab, click the services tab, click hide all Microsoft services (IMPORTANT,) do not forget to click hide...

Do you know if someone has recently gone into the "msconfig" panel and deselected some items from starting up? Have you had anyone "tune-up" the machine lately?

This is probably just a Gateway program that got disabled, or needs to be reinstalled to work correctly.

Hi, thanks for reply, nobody else uses this and I'm now aware of having made any changes. It's really annoying and would love to get it fixed

you can also click enable all on this part and click okay and restart your computer.

this should bring back functionality. if it does not, we will need to re-install the software that is responsible for displaying the caps lock status on your screen.
