Car Sub not working

Hello, I have one of those Fli active subs 1000w where the amp is built in. It was working fine until I was driving once and it cut out. Upon inspection I could see that the remote wire had snapped so I rejoined them and then it started to make that thumping noise. Now I have rewired all the cables with new ground, power,RCAs and R.E.M. I have ensured the ground is secure and on bare metal also. The thumping noise is gone and when I turn on the car the sub lights up but doesn’t make that single thump when it turns on and nothing comes out of it. Just wondering if it could be that the sub is dead even though it turns on, one of my idiot friends turned the gain all up as he thought gain was like volume.
Thanks
Dan

Solution
Which came first? The idiot friend or the snapped wire.
The gain control is supposed to be use to match the level of the sub to the system but it is a volume control,
There may be an internal fuse so you want to check for that when you remove the woofer from the cabinet to measure the resistance of the voice coil with a VOM to see if it's shorted.

If it's OK then the amp is fried.
If not then you will need to replace or have rebuilt the woofer. Try Millersound for the rebuild.
