cd/dvd drive does'nt boot from vista cd

hello,

i hve dell insipron,
i want to reinstall my vista home ,bt my drive did'nt recognize from dvd,
bt drive is able to read a movie dvd,
and my vista dvd is also working good in another computer
it means my drive and dvd both are good,,then where is the problem

It sounds like you are not booting from the cd/dvd. Since the c:\ drive is typically the boot drive, you have to "tell" the computer you want to boot from a different drive.

With most Dell's you need to:

1. Put the dvd in your cd/dvd drive.
2. Restart your pc. While the machine is booting, repeatedly press the delete key so you can access the BIOS.
3. Once you have gotten into bios, set the cd/dvd drive as the first boot device.
4. Press F10 to save and exit the BIOS. If you are asked to press any key to reboot, do so.

You should now boot from the cd/dvd drive and you can re-install Vista.
