Cd dvd drive is not detected in windows vista hp pavillion

Hello,
i have an hp pavillion laptop
and my cd/dvd rom drive isn't working. i did the whole f1 while booting to see the sys bios and there are no drives listed there
????? what do i do? i just wanna watch a movie :(
 
Solution
If your BIOS doesn't detect the optical drive, then Windows can't either. This indicates a possible hardware failure with either the optical drive (most likely) or the physical interface (SATA or IDE) or cable connecting to the motherboard.

If your optical drive is removable, try removing and reseating it (put it back in).

Otherwise, it might be time for a new optical drive. What make/model of HP are you using?
