Change latop procesor

So i want to change my laptop procesor since i feel it lets me down when i try to do more intensive tasks (runing multiple vmware for 10-15 hours/day)
my current specs are :

i want to getIntel Core i7 2630QM its about 350 $
will this procesor work on my laptop?(compatible)
and what you guys think about this upgrade ?is it somewhat safe?

One does not simply change a laptop processor, besides hose i7 most certainly don't use the same socket even if you could get one on your hands.

so my intel pentium has Sockets Supported PGA988 and i7 has Sockets Supported FCPGA988
is not the same socket ? if not can you suggest some procesors that will work ?

As far as I can tell i7 2630QM happens to be one of the few i7 that actually used PGA 988. If there is a model of your laptop that uses i7 then chances are it will be fine with your laptop.

same socket same number of pins same everything

if you know can you explain why will not work?

and upgrading will not be a problem ,i can aways go to a pro person to make the upgrade,i just need to know if it will work(compatibility) and if my sistem will sufer from this in any way,i saw tons of clips on youtube where they make an upgrade like this

Yeah I think socket it not going to be the problem.

What may be a problem is chipsets support and actually getting bios to recongise the CPU. If the manufactor also offers an i7 model of your laptop obviously the system is designed to make use of them and would be easy enough to just swap on in.

Heat may also be a problem. There is a 10W difference in TDP and the i7 does get hot under load.

Whats your laptop model and if you know the chipset it uses,

I would imagin all the models uses the same motherboard so you should be fine. You could call them up and ask if you want a confirm.

According to ASUS those laptops are supposed to come with i7s so there should be no problem, however, removing the cpu cooler is one of the few things that voids warranty in ASUS laptops, so check with whoever sold you the laptop to work out any warranty issues.

some friends said that i will have problems with the new cpu that will not work at 100% perfomance because of the optimization done by the asus or who build it with the pentium procesor

is this true? and is hard to optimizate a laptop with the new cpu? thanks to all for the help,really nice guys

I honestly wouldn't know, I usually don't advise people change anything on their laptops apart from the RAM/HDD, but it does seem like your CPU is your bottleneck.
