Going to assume you are using a laptop running Windows 7, since you have so graciously left out any such details.

You'll want to right click on an empty part of your background. A menu will pop up. Click on "Personalize" at the bottom. This will let you change your background, among other things.

Ahhh, a background. I'm a bit dense sometimes. I was wondering what a back round was. Or a back square or a back triangle

Oh and if by chance you are running Windows 7 Starter Edition on say a netbook ( another detail graciously omitted ) then you can't change the background.
