change wifi connection from optimumt to another

i have a Toshiba satellite L645 and I have optimum as my Wi-Fi from my friend and now I have my neighbor from upstairs who gave me her Wi-Fi access and I don't know how to change it I set up my smart TV and my iPhone but I cant set up my laptop please advise

Click on the Wi-Fi or network icon in the Taskbar on the lower right. Click on the undesired Wi-Fi connection in the list that appears, and select disconnect. This should prevent it from automatically connecting. Now select your neighbor's Wi-Fi access point, and when prompted, enter the password.

it keeps telling me problem with wireless adapter or access point when I enter her password but everything else works in my house smart TV, iPhone and PlayStation
