I don't know if this would go under the OS 8 or 7 or laptop section.

If I were to buy a laptop with Windows 8 and I have a Windows 7 disk, is it as simple as installing windows 7 and wiping the hardrive of windows 8?

You'll have to check and see if there are Windows 7 drivers for it. If there aren't from the laptop manufacturer, sometimes the individual pieces have WIn7 drivers.

Look first before you leap.

As USAFRet said. Laptops, unfortunately, can have custom drivers to allow some specific components to work optimally.

On the other hand, W7 does come with numerous generic drivers. As long as you have the W8 install disks (in case anything goes wrong) - and back up what you need, then by all means, pop in your W7 install disk. I've had success with this type of scenario in the past. No guarantees though!

Dang, why must they force us to use windows 8, imo its so bad, i'd rather use a mac OS.

How can i check to see if it boots in UEFI or legacy mode?
