Charging adapter for HP Elitebook 8460p fried (?)

Hello! I have an issue.

Last night, my adapter started buzzing and popping, those I didn't notice anything visually wrong besides the cable not being fully inside the adapter. So I pushed it in, still heard the popping and buzzing, and checked and fixed anything I may have missed, until the popping stopped.

Unfortunately, my adapter stopped working altogether. I tried charging my laptop in different outlets, but it still didn't work. I used the cable in a different adapter (one that doesn't fit in my current laptop) and it worked, so I know it's the adapter box.

Is there anyway to fix this, or should I just shell out money for another adapter?

Fixing it seems a bit unrealistic. If you're lucky, HP might give you another one. If not, though, you can always just get one online.
