Charging issues s3

When I connect my phone to charge it while it's off it lights up like normal to charge after about an hour when I cut it back on my battery life will only be anywhere from 0-5% charged. Sometimes it charges fine but most of the time not. After being on the charger all night in the morning it will only be at the most 24% charged if that. Please help me..

Possibly a battery that's no longer able to hold a charge correctly. S3 batteries should be pretty cheap ($10-$15) so I'd suggest picking one up to test.
