Hi all, I'm new to the world of laptops having only owned one in my life which is now dead and useless to me. However I will be travelling at the end of this year and I need a cheap but decent laptop that will assist me with basic video editing like premiere pro - don't need after effects or anything crazy.

I'm a windows man but that being said are mac books any good/better at video editing - I don't mind switching to mac if it means cheaper/better performance.

Any help someone can provide is greatly appreciated.

Also I'm in Australia so Australian links would be more than helpful!

Cheap and Video Editing dont belong in the same sentence (nor does Mac and cheaper).

You will need an i7 HQ processor and at least a gtx 960 or GTX 1050 dedicated graphics card in it, as well as a minimum of 16gb of ram, 32 depending on how big your files get.

Do note that i7 xxxxU and i7 xxxxHQ are two VERY different processors. The i7 HQ is similar to the desktop i7 with 4 cores and 8 threads; while the i7 xxxxU is only 2 cores and 4 threads and is slower then a desktop i3.
