cheap speakers for lapfop

cannnot get any sound out of speakers yet they work fine on other laptops. hopefully someone can tell me what I have to do to resolve this problem.
 
It could be a number of things. It could be faulty hardware, bad drivers, or that sound output is not selected in the Windows Sound Manager.
