Hi , I got a Dell E5440 with Mobo 0d693c and chipset GL45/GM45/GS45/PM45 socket P with for the moment an intel T7250 processor.

I'm trying to get better performance of this laptop. I would like to upgrade the processor but i'm confused to which chipset I should look to know which processor choose.

If I understand right, I could choose any processor that fit GL45 OR GM45 OR GS45 OR PM45 ???

Or do i need to choose a processor that fit ALL these chip GL45 AND GM45 AND GS45 AND PM45 ???

I need some advise here. Thanks!

You won't be able to upgrade the CPU in that laptop. Laptops are usually not able to be upgraded (excluding HDD and RAM) to the exception to certain laptops in the very high-end bracket.

I was aware that laptops are upgradable but not to that extent, thanks for pointing it out :)

Agreed, The socket P is a valuable clue, If you can look up the mainboard part number for this you browse the replacement farms on the IE and then get good pictures Before you even attempt to open a case.

Oh man I'm looking at the wrong thing, it's the e5400. This is not soldered and can be changed. There are other models with p9000 series which you might be able to upgrade to. There's not really a cpu support list so there is no telling. You could try to contact dell.

According to http:// processor T9400 could be an easy upgrade from 2.0GHz to 2.53GHz , a bus speed of 1066 MHz insteed of 800MHz and 6mb cache instead of 2mb. I've found one for 10$ on ebay.... gonna try that. If it works i'm gonna be happy for my 10$. If not I won't be too disapointed, it's only 10$.

thanks guys
