So im trying to pick up a new headset from these 3
The first one is Astro A40 TR
The 2nd is ASUS STRIX 7.1
And the 3rd Sennheiser G4ME ZERO or the Razer Tiamat 7.1
I need something really good for music/movies

hmm i kinda like the big ones with the remotes that u can adjust the sound with, anything else other than the simple ones?

If you care about sound quality, no. Those "remotes" are horrible.

If you want to adjust sound volume, just get a keyboard with media keys or macro keys and set those to control the audio volume. Much more effective.

just to be clear here when u say sound quality, does it mean the sound is louder or clearer, and isnt better to buy the ones with surround sound in them?

No, at least not average loudness.

Very much so, since what you need is dynamic range and signal reproduction

Absolutely not! This "7.1" audio fad is something gaming companies that couldn't compete with real headphones came up with. It is ALWAYS better to get good headphones than "gamer" type ones, since you can pick up smaller differences in volume with good headphones (and positional awareness comes from minute differences in volume and latency )

hmm i dont really know that much about headsets so im just gonna have to take ur word for it.
So is the sennheiser the best or is there something better, and i dont really need a mic. My budget is pretty open if u have something else

The ones with best reviews are going to be the ATH-AD500X and HD 598, and the G4ME ZERO is supposed to be based off the HD 598 design so it should perform relatively close to the HD598. If the >$150 range is too much, the ATH-M50X and HD 558 are in the $120 range , and ATH-M40X and HD 518 are both under $75

Give us a pic to make sure it's a real one. There's fakes on Amazon being sold sometimes.

And no, 7.1 virtual headphone surround or any headphone virtual surround isn't completely a fad. While it does lower sound quality especially in the transients, the effect of having a soundstage that sounds more diffused is generally more realistic sounding. I prefer having it on in most games even with a Sennheiser HD800
