Choosing a phone

Hello,
I've been stuck with cheap phones in Mexico for five years and now want something good now that I'm back in Canada. I have no clue what to choose between iphones/android/crackberry.. I just know I want in on the action. Any tips/suggestions?

I'm currently looking at Wind Mobile, Unlimited everything plan for $45, and the Motorola XT720 as my best option as far as I can see.
