Not that Compaq had much useful support to begin with when my laptop was new
couple of years ago. I'm looking for information for my laptop, a Presario
1216US, and at one
time Compaq has much more information on the website like user's manual (not
mine but 1216UK and was close enough), drivers, and access to the
Maintenance and Service Guide at

http://www.compaq.com/athome/support/msgs/

and now is blocked. The user's manual, any 1216 version, is nowhere to be
found and most of the drivers are gone too. Where has it are all gone?

Compaq was bought out by HP over 2 years ago.

Thank, I know that and this link as well. My point is there isn't much in it
compare to the old Compaq site before HP bought them out. I know the
information must be still around but I just don't know how to get around the
Compaq FTP server yet.

Not much there to see, but have a look at this site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&cc=br&dlc=pt&product=94978

They do seem to have quite a few driver updates.

If all else fails, use the e-mail support. I was quite surprised when they
promptly helped me figure out a memory configuration problem with my ancient
Presario. I find their support is usually good even though it's spread out
and hard to find.

Tanks but I've already tried this link. BTW Compaq has ALL the drivers in
the ftp server but it will take hours to go through it if you don't know
what the # is. Some of the drivers I've tried just don't work and has not
been updated. The online user's manual and the maintenance manual are no
longer available. The good thing is parts are still available.

I'm surprised too that you still could get email support. Even when my
laptop was under warranty last year it was like pulling teeth to get them to
repair my dead hard drive.
