Hello all,
I haven't got a clue about audio and sound systems, but I would like to make a sound system for my computer. Just something simple like two speakers and a big ass subwoofer.
Just wanted to know what I need, like an amp or anything else.
Thanks

i had the klipsch promedia 2.1 set myself... good build quality and sound however the subwoofer is sized much too large and it overpowers the satelite speakers even when toned down. i ended up returning the set i bought and upgrading to their home theater speakers instead which are more balanced.

corsair makes a nice gaming set as well, logitech speakers arent bad for the price also. the creature iii has good sound quality for its small size.

if you want "the best" though you're going to be looking at hifi systems with a little amp. such as http://www.cnet.com/news/build-your-own-desktop-stereo-for-under-70/

I agree ssddx, but it's all about positioning when it comes to sub woofers. I had a set of the pro media's, and with proper setup, imho, they can sound decently balanced.

Overall, for the money, you'll be hard pressed to find better computer speakers for the money.

I have an old set of Logitech Z-2300s that still sound great being they are at least 10 years old. Everything I've read say they are comparable enough to the Klipsch as to be a mostly sideways upgrade so I'll wait until they fail before buying new speakers. I almost always use headphones with my PC anyway. The Z-2300s were the bang for the buck choice back in the mid 2000s. They still were selling for over $200 on ebay last I looked and that's double what I paid for them.
