Computer screen blank when connected to HDMI and stays blank when disconnected

Hello,

I recently connected my laptop to my tv via hdmi (both the tv and computer were displaying everything fine). I closed the computer without disconnecting the hdmi. Next time I opened my computer, the display on the tv still appears but nothing on the computer screen. If I disconnect the hdmi, all I get is sound on the computer, still nothing on the display though. I tried changing display settings, but I never changed anything on it previously so I don't know what could have changed. Please help.

I have. same result. Nothing appears on the laptop screen until I connect the HDMI cable to the tv, then I get picture on the tv while the computer is still a black screen.

I was able to determine that the back-light for the screen is no longer working and that is the issue.
