Computoer to HDMI

WhenI link my computer to my tv through the HDMI cable all I can get is the desktop screen on the tv. If I try and watch a film or You Tube nothing happens it just shows the desktop. Any ideas?

sounds like you have two screens connected - your monitor and your tv. sounds like the type of secondary monitor display setting you're using is "extend" which just adds more real estate to your desktop. you would want to use "duplicate" provided your monitor and the tv are the same resolution. otherwise, just drag the windows you want on the tv over to the display by dragging off the screen either left or right (depending on how you have your multimonitor setup)

no trouble. many people dont realize its an option if its the first time connecting an auxiliary monitor and in most cases it defaults to duplicate.
