Concurrent phone call + web

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me the "fine print" regarding concurrent tasks, particularly as they apply to Droid and iPhone? Verizon's current ad says "With AT&T, you need two phones" - a pretty concrete statement... AT&T's ad demonstrates concurrent call & data but states "all without leaving the call"... which sounds to me like a phrase crafted to hide some critical fact.

So, what are the issues here?

Errr wait, where did you see the Verizon ad? And which iPhone ad are you talking about?

simply you can talk on the iphone and browse your email or search the net without leaving the phone call,unlike verizon

I think thats AT&T ad. Anyways yea i can call a friend and view emails/maps/internet at the same time, all while still talking to my friend.
