connect dmr-es45vs dvd/vcr to lg smart tv

Not sure where to connect the wire on the back of my dvd/vcr player it's a panasonic dmr-es35v model

You have a composite video output and left and right audio output on the DVR. That should give you picture and sound for both the DVD and VCR.
The component video output will give you a better picture but may not work on the VCR only the DVD.
