Connect laptop to desktop PC

I would like to ask if it is possible to connect my laptop with HDMI to my GPU which is DVI, because i want to use my laptop as a second screen for my desktop computer ?

No. Your HDMI on the laptop is for output to a monitor. You'd need some type of video capture capability.

So what happends if i use a hdmi to dvi cable and connect it from my laptop to my pc ?

And another question when i Right click on the desktop, click 'Screen Resolution'

Click 'Detect' nothing happens it should give me a second screen so i can set that up as i second screen.

Nothing.
It won't work - it's not connected to another screen. It's connected to the output from the laptop, and it won't work.
