Trying to connect Samsung bluray player to Sony Bravia Tv. No signal. Did not require any cords directly connected to TV in the past.

Perhaps in the past you were connecting to the Bravia by Bluetooth.

If you want to watch movies, the only thing you need is a HDMI cable from DVD player to the TV. You don't need Ethernet, Internet etc for that.
