Question Connecting 2 Laptops & 2 Monitors Together via KVM

I am planning to simplify my work from home setup as my job requires me to have 2 laptops. (Both are Windows).

My question is, is it required to connect an external keyboard and mouse when connecting to a KVM? I wish to use the more powerful laptop as the main laptop (keyboard and touchpad) and not need to connect a keyboard and mouse.
