Connecting a Beringer XM8500 microphone to LG sound bar model NB252OA

I want to connect the microphone to my sound bar. I purchased a lead to make the connection. I bought a kenable XLR Female 3 pin socket to 3.5mm Audio Stereo Jack Plug to make the connection thinking that was all I needed. Why does it not work? I thought I just changed the setting to portable and it would work. Thank you.

Did you get a cable like this http/www.amazon.com/Hosa-XVM-115F-Microphone-Cable-Right-Angle/dp/B000068NZF? It should work. You may need to get a pre-amp to get the level better for the soundbar to use like this http/www.amazon.com/ART-Tube-Studio-Mic-Preamp/dp/B00BBE6X3W

How loud did you set the soundbar? You may need to up the volume if you don't have a pre-amp, your cable may also be faulty.
