I WANT TO BUY A SOUND BAR AND GET RID OF MY OLDER THAN DIRT SPEAKERS.. HOW DO I CONNECT THEM ALL? DO I HAVE TO CONNECT THE DVD PLAYER UP TOO?
I HAVE CABLE TV, STEREO, DVD PLAYER AND A SOUND BAR...HELP!!!!!!

Don't use ALL CAPS! That's considered impolite in Internet communications.

If you insist of having a sound bar (that is, an appliance to process only sound, with built-in speakers), get one with enough HDMI and RCA inputs. Use these inputs to connect DVD, CABLE etc, so when you choose the input, the sound bar will pass thru the video as well.

If you want to get it up a notch - get a multi-media receiver, and buy decent speakers for it.

There are soundbars that connect as Alabalcho suggests. With others you would connect all your sources to the TV and connect the audio out of the TV to the soundbar. Make sure the soundbar has the correct input type for the audio output of the TV. Most common on TVs is optical digital audio out. There are also coax digital audio out and analog audio out on some sets.
