Connecting amplifier to speakers

Hi there! I am having a small problem when wiring my amplifier to my speakers (my knowledge in audio equipment is near zero to be honest). Why is the output for the red cable marked as negative in the amplifier but positive in the speakers? Same with the white output; it is marked as positive in the amplifier but negative in the speakers...

Should I connect red to red (negative to positive) and white to white (positive to negative), or red to white (negative to negative) and white to red (negative to positive)?

As long as you are consistent across all the speakers, it doesn't really matter. I would probably do red to red, white to white just to keep it simple.
